Wow Bohol

The wonder of Bohol via the country side tour, Amazing Race style. We were to hit over 10 spots in a day beginning at 8:30am.First I will mention that the paved road of Bohol is fantastic. And according to our expert guide slash driver Gary, the highway that surrounds the island is smooth all the way, making it possible to cover the perimeter of the island in 6 hours vs. 12 hours before. But that...

Cesar Montano: Future Governor of Bohol?

If there is one question that I could ask to the so-called Boholano actor and director, Cesar Montano, it could be: “Where have you been?”Years ago, Bohol can be traced back as a very silent fourth class province in Central Philippines boosting its very own Alturas Supermarket and Bohol Quality Department Store which can only be compared to those big convenient stores in the capital back then. It’s not even recognized as one of the provinces of the Philippines before – far from its neighbor Cebu....

From boxing ring to small screen

Some 24 hours after retaining his International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight crown, I had the pleasure of chatting with Nonito Donaire Jr. in an interview arranged by Startalk (portions of which you will get to watch on the show this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on GMA 7).Nonito — or Jun-Jun — looked very relaxed seated across me and that wasn’t surprising at all since he had it easy on the day of...

The Wonders of the River Loboc

Bohol is often compared to Cebu. Unsurprisingly, the smaller and quieter province that is Bohol might pale in comparison to the flashier and richer state that is Cebu. Cebu can match and debatably exceed what Bohol has to offer – think of beach resorts, centuries-old churches, business buzz, cosmopolitan and entertainment sophistication. But not really. When it comes to natural bounties, Bohol can...

It was my first trip off the island of Luzon and it was to one of the best tourist destinations in the country, Bohol! We arrived 2 hours early at the airport because my friend over estimated the time. Experience summertime in Bohol

SUMMER is one of the best times to take a break and one of the best places to be, by then, is Bohol. Bohol is perhaps one of the country’s most popular tourist spots because of the world famous Chocolate Hills and the world’s smallest primate, the Tarsier. But other than these two, you will be surprised to find that Bohol caters to a lot of different people with different interests too.It is undeniably an island rich in natural beauty both on land and under the sea. It’s one of the places here...

Exploring Bohol

So we went to NAIA Terminal 3 for our flight, did see Judenites there... it's a newly opened terminal so it's really beautiful and clean and chic and so avant garde-ish. Flew to Bohol w/ Cebu Pacific [cheaper and better!] and arrived, HOT! Then we rode a bus and headed off to the Sanduguan which is where Miguel Lopez de Legaspi and Sukatuna* [not sure abt. the sp.] made a pact of some sort. I did...

Bojol!

Bohol, our tour guide Roel claimed, has become the country’s top tourist destination, overtaking Boracay whose popularity has slipped due to pollution and congestion issues. I can’t verify his claim since the Department of Tourism website doesn’t have the info, but if it’s true, it does make sense. Bohol offers a wide range of activities and points of interest – like Boracay, it also has beautiful...

Tireless in Tagbi

Our plan was to do a Visita Iglesia of at least seven (if not 14) churches in this province dotted with centuries-old of them, but because of the sudden summer rain, Raoul Tidalgo, a few other Boholano friends and I made it to only three. But we were “tireless in Tagbi” that Maundy Thursday just the same.We had a quick breakfast at the Bohol Tropics Resort (the only one of its kind in the heart of...

Bohol Blog

Bohol On My Mind blog is where I reminisce and rave about my home province of Bohol. Right now, I am too homesick to do some raving and I am wont to do a lot of reminiscing instead. But I daydream about it a lot rather than blogging about it!Bohol has been in the Philippine tourism limelight for several years now. In fact, it has been declared as the number one tourist destination in the country. And that honour had brought along with it a lot of local and foreign tourists visiting Bohol.More @...
