Bohol on a budget

Yey, another item off my 100 list: tour Bohol. Although the main reason that Tenshi and I went there last month was to take part in her friends’ wedding in Maribojoc, we had one day to tour Bohol’s most common destinations. However, there was not enough time to stay in Panglao or watch dolphins in Pamilacan, which makes Bohol a must-return-to place for me.

A month before our trip, fellow Eduk, Inc. volunteers also went to Bohol to attend a wedding. Gladys generously shared her Bohol travel tips with me, and I hope she does not mind me sharing them here.

And we’re back from Bohol

We had a blast although we could use a bit more sun in the place. It was sunny the first day but afterwards it was too cloudy and bleak to enjoy the beach. Too bad cause the beach there was very beautiful.

The resort where we stayed (Dumaluan Beach Resort) had free WiFi but on the second day, they lost their internet connection so I wasn’t able to go online for the rest of our trip. They had cable TV anyway and I was able to watch American Idol and the PBA Finals (Congrats Talk N’ Text).

It’s good to be back and I will write details about our trip in the upcoming weeks. But for now, have to go to the laundry and do some grocery.

Cafe Lawis in Dauis

In between a very hectic working day today in Tagbilaran city, we had a late afternoon snack in the town accross the island called Dauis.

I went home to Bohol for some legal work for the family corporation.

I took a side trip from Cebu as I was having hearings there.

Anyway it was the first time I visited another restaurant in Dauis called Cafe Lawis.

What a spectacle!

There was an unexpected view like no other.
Cafe Lawis is on the premises of the old Dauis church so nobody can miss it.
My hearing is that Bea Zobel developed the area to the tune of P7M---probably more.
The church was renovated.
Visibly changed was the roof of the church.
The restuarant is both indoor and outdoor.
It's an artist's lair obviously.
Outside, it was a breath taiking view of Tagbilran and the main Bohol island.

What is the Church's Business in the Dauis Renaissance Program?

This paper presents an analysis, in financial perspective, of the details of the agreement entered into by parties 1) The Bishop of Tagbilaran, 2) Beatriz Susanna Zobel de Ayala, 3) Dauis Renaissance Company, Inc. and signed on June 24, 2008 in Dauis, Bohol, Philippines. As the agreement is vague in some respects, figure computations were interpreted on the basis of its implications to financial statements of the “Dauis Renaissance Company”, both currently and prospectively.

The paper is structured in three parts. The first section analyses the facts of the agreement and its implication on assets, equities, and net income projections. The relevant provisions of the agreement are cited side by side with the analysis. The second section represents the general independent appraisal of the author on the “Dauis Renaissance Company”, taking collectively all the facts mentioned in the first section. The annex section presents a list of important financial terms which are defined within the context of how these terms are used in the analysis.

List of Bohol Town Fiestas

They say that the island of Bohol sinks about an inch in May due to the thousands of Bol-anons who come home to attend the many town and barrio fiestas celebrated during the month. You can almost feel this once you disembark from those overloaded ships docking at the Tagbilaran Port in May.

Fiestas in Bohol are occasions of great joy and merry-making, as well as lots of free food. Almost every household in town or in the barrio is on a welcome mode and, yes, you can literally go to any house, even if you do not know the owner, and eat your heart out.

Dinner in Bohol

We arrived in Bohol nearly 2PM and after checking in at the Dumaluan Resort in Panglao Island, K and I rested first and late in the afternoon, we walked along the beach. One of the famous resorts in Panglao - the Bohol Beach Club - was just next to Dumaluan, so we went there, too, just to "see" how it was. While walking back to our resort, we saw this chef grilling some foods and automatically I told K that I wanted to eat chicken barbecue. K suggested we check out what Dumaluan has to offer.

It took a while before we ate dinner, and since the foods in Dumaluan was reasonable, we decided to eat there.

Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan (TBTK) 2009

Come July 16 to 26, the province of Bohol will again host Tigum Bol-anon Tibuok Kalibutan, a gathering of Boholanos from around the world, a continuing testament for our love for home and for going home.

The gathering will commence with an audience with the President at Malacañang on July 14 but will officially start in Bohol only on July 16. The ten-day program includes school reunions, pageants, a medical mission, a tree-planting activity, even an international cockfighting derby, and the famous Sandugo Festival.
