Bohol Bee Farm, Panglao Island, Bohol

I've never been this close to bees in my entire life! But I did not let the opportunity pass so I went ahead and held that thing with the bees. See the nervous smile?

Bohol Bee Farm is actually one of the many resort hotels in Panglao Island. However, Bohol Bee Farm offers its guests something different from the rest - that is, providing organic food and products and exposing them to organic farm activities. Indeed, our tour inside the place is memorable and educational as well.

My Bohol Trip part 2

Here’s the continuation of my Bohol Trip. I just found extra time today and thought of making the part 2 of my Bohol Trip. From Tagbilaran airport, it took about half an hour to Panglao Island. We stayed at Lost Horizon Beach Resort and its past 6pm when we arrived and we took an hour rest before heading out to the beach for dinner. The rooms are okay and we paid P2,600 ($56) a night per room that’s good for two but can accommodate 4 people.

Beautiful Bohol

This expansive farm in the town of Dauis on Panglao Island is all about embracing the natural, organic lifestyle. The small herb garden by the main entrance is a lush home to pots of tarragon, basil, dill, fennel, coriander, peppermint—all of which you can touch and smell one by one on the free farm tour for guests. Included in the tour is a 101 talk on bees and how they work. But before you set off for the tour, take a seat and eat. The menu is a page-turner—Yoga Salad with Cheese, Organic Vegetables Stir-Fried with Shrimps, Grilled Marlin, Seafood Pasta with Cocomilk, Ube Fries with Honeyed Latik, and so on. Not strong on decision-making? Treat your group to a generous buff et spread for P420 per head for a group of six.

After lunch, look for a nook you can claim your own. The real charm of Bohol Bee Farm is to be discovered in the many cozy couches and hammocks spread all over the property. Yes, lazing around is required here. Look for the viewing deck and let the sound of crashing waves serenade you. Get a traditional hilot massage to work out the kinks. Before you depart, stop by the Buzz Shop to load up on spreads, teas, and muffins.

Bohol, a reverie runs through it

Drinking had never been this lonesome. Not that I don’t enjoy drinking with Mom who, by the time I was writing this, had already finished two glasses of margarita. In this Panglao night, my glass of cabernet sauvignon is starting to fill me with reverie.

So I took my best friend, the laptop to write my story under these starry skies. Tomorrow, I would be back in the arms of Manila, my Manila. And the thought of it brings me feelings that are acute and painful Bohol is introverted like me, and amusingly very rural. No big, noisy parties, just tables for one, or two, or a few friends who would talk quietly. Is it the wine or the memory slowly unfolding? Time flies and I have to commit everything to memory.

Red Butterfly Travel Series: Bohol

From Manila, we went to Cebu to meet up with some friends then took a ferry going to Bohol.

There are many ferries to choose from. There’s Super Cat (300 Roundtrip), Ocean Jet (500 Roundtrip) and Weesam Express (400 Roundtrip). I forgot which one we took but I think it’s the Super Cat ferry… because it’s cheap. LOL!

We stayed at JJ’s Alona Rooms, Bar and Restaurant. It’s not located at the beachfront, but it’s still near the beach. The rooms are clean and roomy. And the staff is very friendly. The rates are cheap, although I’m not sure of their rates now. When I checked their website, they removed the rates. They’re probably going to change them. The best way to find out is to contact them and ask for their current rates.

Bohol Beach Club, Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines Trip

We went to Bohol with Cebu Pacific Air on May 16, 2009. The plane took off from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Domestic Terminal 3 in Manila at around 8:18am, earlier than the estimated time of departure which was 8:35am. The plane landed at the Tagbilaran Airport in Bohol even before 9:28am, earlier than the estimated time of arrival which was 9:50am.

At around 9:44am, we were already on our way to Bohol Beach Club, Bo. Bolod, Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. The trip from Tagbilaran Airport to Bohol Beach Club was not that long, more or less travel time was 30 to 40 minutes.

Day Tour at Bohol Bee Farm : Bohol Tour, Day 3

Day Tour at Bohol Bee Farm: You have to coordinate with the Bee farm crew from the reception if you want a ‘Farm Tour’ of the area. When we got there, there was a large group of student touring the Bee Farm. They let us join that group which had already started when we got there.

The part of the tour we caught was the plants and herbs the crew grows inside the farm. We weren’t able to catch the tour guide’s name as we were late on the course of the tour.

Living The Charmed Life At Amorita Resort

IN THE Philippines’s famous province of Bohol, there’s a new resort that can stake a legitimate claim to be among the most beautiful and sophisticated, a world away from the generic beach-resort genre found throughout the country.

Amorita Resort, in Bohol’s Panglao Island, boasts not just world-class amenities and an eye-catching design, but also a spectacular location that’s unequaled by any other property in its area. It sprawls over 1.8 hectares of lushly landscaped gardens high up on a windswept cliff overlooking Panglao’s famous Alona Beach, the Bohol Sea and the islands beyond.

Amorita Resort Review

It was in May 2008 when I had the chance to visit Bohol for a 4 days / 3 nights stay. Our trip to Bohol was totally unexpected so we didn’t have much time to plan the whole trip. A week before our trip, I already started looking for an accommodation in Panglao Island and I was quite surprised of their rates – most of which are really quite expensive.

While I was searching the Internet for a nice place to stay in Panglao Island, I stumbled upon this stylish and very elegant resort – Amorita Resort. Amorita, which means “little love” in Spanish is owned by the 28-year old Ria Hernandez-Cauton. The resort is nestled atop a beach sided cliff which offers spectacular and breathtaking views of the sky and Panglao Island’s Alona White Beach. It is quite new since it was built just 2 years ago, I think.

The allure of Ananyana

It all started simply — as most journeys often do. The urban frenzy was becoming constricting and the need to escape to sublime serenity was necessary. Hibernating in a tried-and-tested soulful sanctuary was a must — this time, in the beautiful Ananyana resort, our home away from home in the sunny island of Panglao in Bohol.

Just a comfortable hour-long flight away was all it took for my family, friends and I to find ourselves enchanted by this slice of paradise. From Tagbilaran, the capital of Bohol, where our Cebu Pacific plane landed, we were whisked off along well-paved roads to this jewel of a resort in Panglao. From Ananyana’s enclave, guests can traipse to the province’s green-mantled hills, waterfalls, lush forests, caramel colored sandy beaches, meandering rivers and centuries-old churches. Guests can also opt to be ferried to the middle of the sea on a glass-bottom boat and watch dolphins frolicking. Today, Bohol is among the country’s top tourism destinations for it is an ode to the beauty and glory of its heritage and culture as well as a magnet to progressive infrastructure, amenities and very soon a new and posh airport.

Kayla’a Beach Resort of Dimiao, Bohol

I am proud to be a Boholano. With the pristine beaches and eco-tourism sites my province had, who can’t be proud of it? Well, I am sure if you’re such a traveller, you already had in mind about visiting Bohol. Or in fact you visited Bohol and you are coming back.

I know the resorts in Panglao are good. But there is a lot of things in Bohol other than the beaches in Panglao. I am talking about tourists to try the some other beaches of Bohol. This time, I am talking about Kayla’a Beach Resort which is nestled in the paradise cove of Dimiao, Bohol. The resort is really quiet and I can assure you of total serenity while in the resort. The ambience is really tropical that you don’t need to have an aircon inside your room. The cool breeze of the wind is enough to pamper your mood. The coconut trees growing inside the resort are a relaxing thing to see. While you are in your room, you can glance the volcanic island of Camiguin.

Panglao Bohol Resorts - Dumaluan Beach Resort

If you're looking for value accommodation among the wide selection of Bohol resorts in Panglao, then you should check out Dumaluan Beach Resort. It's actually beside Bohol Beach Club, the more popular among island resorts in Panglao, yet Dumaluan offers rooms at more affordable rates.

Dumaluan Beach resort is located at a more serene side of Panglao. The view from this Bohol resort is picture-perfect. Any tourist would love basking in the fine white sand, enjoying the sight of the sky merging with the sea with huge white clouds looming over the horizon. Unlike Boracay, people here are lesser in number. One could easily read a good book and relax under the shade of nearby trees.

Bohol Tour Part V: Panglao Island Beach Resort

After getting all sweaty and smelly (of bat poo) at the Hinagdanan Cave, Gim and I badly needed some refreshment! We had two choices. Bohol Beach Club or Panglao Island Beach Resort. We were only in Bohol for a day, so we couldn't choose both. Panglao Resort was right beside Hinagdanan, so that made the choice much easier. (I recently saw some pictures of Bohol Beach Club and it's amazing, so we're definitely reserving that for next year.)

Panglao Island Beach Resort looks very ordinary from the outside. We weren't planning to go inside, we just stopped by to take a picture before we headed on to Hinagdanan, so I could post it on my blog and say I'd been there but I really hadn't.

Panglao Island Nature Resort, Dauis, Bohol

This tropical-island resort has to be seen to be believed. You’ll feel as if you’ve just set foot in paradise every minute of your stay at Panglao Island Nature Resort. The resort features a restaurant serving both Filipino and Western specialties in a laid-back environment. Take a dip in the pool overlooking the sea and grab a drink at the Seahorse Pool Bar while relaxing to the sound of the gently-lapping waves. You’ll never be short of things to do. Play a game of pool at the resort or go diving in the clear water of the island. This is a typical beach haven.

The Seaview bungalow has a veranda, with a relaxing view of the sea (Seaview nga, ano?) and it also has a jacuzzi which takes about 15-30 minutes to warm up. Room colors are heavy on yellows, greens, and orange — making it look sunny and cheery. The bed is huge! There are also large glass windows all around (even in the bathroom!) so even while in the bathroom, you can look out and see what the sea looks like outside. Comparing the room at Panglao Island Nature Resort and at Alona Palm, the rooms at Alona Palm are more spacious but the Seaview Bungalow in Panglao Island is much more attractive. The flooring at Panglao is also safer — wood — and is less slippery when wet. It’s more ideal for families with smaller kids.

Bohol Beach Club, Panglao Island

Peacefully nestled in the Central Visayas region and regarded among the best tourist destinations around the world. But beyond the magnificence of Chocolate Hills; the antiquity of Baclayon Church; the natural wonders of Hinagdanan Cave; and the rarity of world renowned Tarsier; Bohol definitely offers more.

Bohol Beach Club, nestles in Panglao Island in the Central Visayas. This is approximately thirty (30) minutes by land from Tagbilaran City. Bohol has become a popular destination for tourist, as it is blessed with natural wonders. These include sight such as the magnificent Chocolate Hills, the Hinagdanan Cave, the Loboc River and the smallest mammal in the world the Philippines’ Tarsier.
